I know I’m not alone when I tell you that the thought of putting my feet into a tub of water and that tub had previously been used by hundreds if not thousands of feet before mine seriously grossed me out. This feeling intensified after attending Beauty College to become a Licensed Manicurists. I learned that we’re required by the State of California, after cleaning, we must let sanitizer stand in these pedicure spa tubs for a minimum of 20 minutes after each use. Now, I’ve been to the always-open nail salons where English is a second language and I had never witnessed them letting sanitizer stand in the tubs for 20 minutes before I put my feet into them and to my disbelief even then, IT IS possible for fungus and grossness to still hide in the under-bellies, hoses and drains of those pedicure spa tubs.
